Born and raised in Canberra, Tanja spent her childhood exploring the natural world and learning to appreciate art in all forms. Her connection to metal as a medium - and the skills of Jewellery making - originally evolved from a desire to balance the intellectual demands of University study with a creative outlet; but has endured for 25 years.
A shared studio tenant of Salamanca Arts Centre since 2012, and a member of FIND Collective in Hobart – Tanja enjoys the process of design and the practice of making by hand - and is inspired by materials, techniques, the process of play - and the beauty of nature.
Using recycled metals wherever possible and designing to minimize waste, she believes we all have a role to play in helping to protect the environment it by choosing to invest in items we will continue to wear and care for in years to come.
